Summary
Homesick exposes viewers to the silent epidemic of Multiple Chemical Sensitivities (MCS) that has drastically affected millions of lives. We meet sufferers of MCS whose very homes are making them dangerously ill. Common products like paint, carpeting, new building materials and insecticides become enemies. Bone aches, fevers, extreme headaches, disabling fatigue, mental confusion, asthma and nausea become daily symptoms. The longer those afflicted stay in their homes, the sicker they become, but finding a safe place to live is an extreme challenge. In Homesick, Susan Abod, herself a victim of MCS, hits the road to learn how other people with MCS are finding safe housing. On her journey to the Southwestern United States, Susan meets people from all walks of life who have fallen prey to MCS and are imaginatively creating safe living environments for themselves. She discovers living quarters ranging from a house on stilts to tents and teepees. Join Susan as she explores a little known world and discovers how people are coping with this growing epidemic.
