Organized by Louis Farrakhan, leader of the Nation of Islam, it was a controversial event, viewed with suspicion and hostility by the white establishment. God Is Angry looks at what Farrakhan means to black society and how he came to his leadership role. In tracing the history of the black struggle for power, the film interviews Stokely Carmichael (who now lives in Africa) and other activists of the sixties. Through archival footage the film traces the history of the painful struggle for civil rights and political power. We see the leaders as they were then -- idealistic and angry young men -- and learn what has become of them. Some are still in prison, some have died, some were absorbed into the middle class, and some became Muslims. There are many who dismiss Farrakhan as a racist and an anti-Semite. This film puts him and the movement into historical context and shows how he may continue to play a major role in effecting social change. 001355979 521__ $$aFor High School; College; Adult audiences. 001355979 530__ $$aPreviously released as DVD. 001355979 546__ $$aThis edition in English. 001355979 586__ $$aSilver Apple, National Educational Film & Video Festival, 1995 001355979 60010 $$aCarmichael, Stokely. 001355979 60010 $$aFarrakhan, Louis. 001355979 61120 $$aMillion Man March$$d(1995 :$$cWashington, D.C.) 001355979 650_0 $$aBlack Muslims. 001355979 650_0 $$aBlack power$$zUnited States. 001355979 650_0 $$aCivil rights movements$$zUnited States$$xHistory$$y20th century. 001355979 655_7 $$aNonfiction films.$$2lcgft 001355979 7001_ $$aSvensson, Birgitta. 001355979 7102_ $$aSveriges television. 001355979 7761_ $$cOriginal$$w(OCoLC)747797724 001355979 85640 $$uhttp://www.aspresolver.com/aspresolver.asp?BLST;1646831 001355979 901__ $$aASP1646831/blsv$$bVaAlASP$$c15250$$tbiblio 001355979 905__ $$uadmin 001355979 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:1355979$$pGLOBAL_SET 001355979 944__ $$a1784916 001355979 945__ $$aNorth America 001355979 980__ $$aSTREAMING 001355979 980__ $$aBIB 001355979 982__ $$aStreaming Video 001355979 983__ $$aOnline
