Ideology and everyday life are examined through analyses of medical practice while gender is assessed through the experience of women medical professionals and patients. Cross national and entangled history is explored through the prism of health care, with medical professionals crossing borders for a number of reasons: to promote the principles and advancements of science and medicine internationally; to serve altruistic purposes and support international health care initiatives; and to escape persecution. Chapters in this volume highlight the diversity of experiences of health care, but also draw attention to the shared concerns and issues that make science and medicine the subject of international discussion. 001358557 588__ $$aOnline resource; title from PDF title page (ebrary, viewed March 6, 2017). 001358557 650_0 $$aHistory. 001358557 650_0 $$aRussia$$xHistory. 001358557 650_0 $$aSocial history. 001358557 650_0 $$aMedical care$$zSoviet Union. 001358557 651_0 $$aEurope, Eastern$$xHistory. 001358557 655_0 $$aElectronic books 001358557 7001_ $$aGrant, Susan,$$eeditor. 001358557 77608 $$iPrint version: $$z3319441701 001358557 852__ $$bebk 001358557 85640 $$3Springer Nature$$uhttps://univsouthin.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https://link.springer.com/10.1007/978-3-319-44171-9$$zOnline Access$$91397441.1 001358557 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:1358557$$pGLOBAL_SET 001358557 980__ $$aBIB 001358557 980__ $$aEBOOK 001358557 982__ $$aEbook 001358557 983__ $$aOnline 001358557 994__ $$a92$$bISE
