The author shows that, in terms of personnel, Jews were predominant throughout most of Viennese high culture, and so any attempts to dismiss the "Jewish aspect" of the intelligentsia are refuted. The book goes on to explain this "Jewish aspect," dismissing any unitary, static model and adopting a historical approach that sees the "Jewishness" of Viennese modern culture as a result of the specific Jewish backgrounds of most of the leading cultural figures and their reactions to being Jewish. 001389623 546__ $$aEnglish. 001389623 648_7 $$aGeschichte 1867-1938.$$2swd 001389623 650_0 $$aJews$$zAustria$$zVienna$$xHistory. 001389623 650_0 $$aJews$$zAustria$$zVienna$$xIntellectual life. 001389623 650_7 $$aCivilization.$$2fast$$0(OCoLC)fst00862898 001389623 650_7 $$aCivilization$$xJewish influences.$$2fast$$0(OCoLC)fst00862927 001389623 650_7 $$aEthnic relations.$$2fast$$0(OCoLC)fst00916005 001389623 650_7 $$aJews.$$2fast$$0(OCoLC)fst00983135 001389623 650_7 $$aJews$$xIntellectual life.$$2fast$$0(OCoLC)fst00983287 001389623 650_7 $$aJuden$$2gnd$$0(DE-588)4028808-0 001389623 65017 $$aCultuur.$$2gtt 001389623 65017 $$aJoden.$$2gtt 001389623 650_7 $$aAutriche$$zVienne$$xJuifs$$xHistoire$$y1867-1938.$$2ram 001389623 651_0 $$aAustria$$xCivilization$$xJewish influences. 001389623 651_0 $$aVienna (Austria)$$xCivilization. 001389623 651_0 $$aVienna (Austria)$$xEthnic relations. 001389623 651_4 $$aVienna. 001389623 651_7 $$aAustria.$$2fast$$0(OCoLC)fst01204901 001389623 651_7 $$aAustria$$zVienna.$$2fast$$0(OCoLC)fst01204516 001389623 651_7 $$aWien$$2gnd$$0(DE-588)4066009-6 001389623 651_7 $$aJuden.$$2swd 001389623 653__ $$aAustria$$aVienna$$aJews, history 001389623 655_7 $$aHistory.$$2fast$$0(OCoLC)fst01411628 001389623 852__ $$bgen 001389623 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:1389623$$pGLOBAL_SET 001389623 980__ $$aBIB 001389623 980__ $$aBOOK 001389623 994__ $$aC0$$bISE
