Its main focus is on the ways in which jurists and legal philosophers thought about law and legal reasoning. The volume begins with a discussion of the 'common law mind' as it evolved in late medieval and early modern England. It goes on to examine the different jurisprudential traditions which developed in England and the United States, showing that while Coke's vision of the common law continued to exert a strong influence on American jurists, in England a more positivist approach took root, which found its fullest articulation in the work of Bentham and Austin. 001398146 588__ $$aDescription based on print version record. 001398146 60010 $$aCoke, Edward,$$cSir,$$d1552-1634. 001398146 650_0 $$aCommon law$$xHistory. 001398146 650_0 $$aLaw$$xPhilosophy$$xHistory. 001398146 650_0 $$aJurisprudence. 001398146 650_0 $$aLaw$$zEnglish-speaking countries$$xHistory. 001398146 650_6 $$aCommon law$$xHistoire. 001398146 650_6 $$aDroit. 001398146 650_6 $$aDroit$$zAnglophonie$$xHistoire. 001398146 655_0 $$aElectronic books 001398146 77608 $$iPrint version:$$aLobban, Michael.$$tHistory of the philosophy of law in the common law world, 1600-1900.$$dDordrecht : Springer, [2016]$$z9789402409123$$w(OCoLC)1113566762 001398146 830_0 $$aTreatise of legal philosophy and general jurisprudence ;$$vv. 8. 001398146 852__ $$bebk 001398146 85640 $$3Springer Nature$$uhttps://univsouthin.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https://link.springer.com/10.1007/978-94-024-0913-0$$zOnline Access$$91397441.1 001398146 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:1398146$$pGLOBAL_SET 001398146 980__ $$aBIB 001398146 980__ $$aEBOOK 001398146 982__ $$aEbook 001398146 983__ $$aOnline 001398146 994__ $$a92$$bISE
