The book analyses existing informal groups at the grassroots, furthering transnational solidarity in three thematic areas: disability, unemployment and immigration. Contributions assess how civic groups respond to the various crises affecting Europe, especially the economic and refugee crises, presenting new findings from a systematic comparative study conducted in eight European countries (Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Poland, Switzerland, and the UK). The research will be of interest to scholars, students, journalists, policy-makers and activists interested in civil society, social movements, charitable actions, altruism and solidarity, as well as European studies and the socio-economic challenges of current European crises.--$$cProvided by publisher. 001430891 588__ $$aOnline resource; title from PDF title page (SpringerLink, viewed January 26, 2021). 001430891 650_0 $$aPolitical participation$$zEurope. 001430891 650_0 $$aCivil society$$zEurope. 001430891 650_0 $$aSolidarity$$zEurope. 001430891 650_0 $$aTransnationalism. 001430891 650_0 $$aPolitical sociology. 001430891 650_0 $$aSocial sciences. 001430891 650_0 $$aEmigration and immigration. 001430891 650_0 $$aSocial policy. 001430891 650_6 $$aParticipation politique$$zEurope. 001430891 650_6 $$aSociété civile$$zEurope. 001430891 650_6 $$aTransnationalisme. 001430891 650_6 $$aSociologie politique. 001430891 650_6 $$aSciences sociales. 001430891 650_6 $$aÉmigration et immigration. 001430891 650_6 $$aPolitique sociale. 001430891 655_0 $$aElectronic books. 001430891 7001_ $$aLahusen, Christian,$$eeditor. 001430891 7001_ $$aZschache, Ulrike,$$eeditor. 001430891 7001_ $$aKousis, Maria,$$eeditor. 001430891 77608 $$iPrint version: $$z3030496589$$z9783030496586$$w(OCoLC)1154090476 001430891 830_0 $$aPalgrave studies in European political sociology. 001430891 852__ $$bebk 001430891 85640 $$3Springer Nature$$uhttps://link.springer.com/10.1007/978-3-030-49659-3$$zOnline Access$$91397441.2 001430891 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:1430891$$pGLOBAL_SET 001430891 980__ $$aBIB 001430891 980__ $$aEBOOK 001430891 982__ $$aEbook 001430891 983__ $$aOnline 001430891 994__ $$a92$$bISE
