It challenges the state-centred approach in research on welfare and migration by emphasising migrants' own reflections and experiences. It asks whether and in which ways different welfare concerns are part of migrants' decisions regarding (or aspirations for) mobility. Employing a transnational and a translocal perspective, the book addresses different forms of geographical mobility, such as immigration, emigration, and re-migration, circular and return migration. By bringing in empirical findings from across a variety of Western and non-Western contexts, the book challenges the Eurocentric focus in current debates and contributes to a more nuanced and more integrated global account of the welfare-migration nexus. 001431009 588__ $$aOnline resource; title from PDF title page (SpringerLink, viewed April 19, 2021). 001431009 650_0 $$aEmigration and immigration. 001431009 650_0 $$aEmigration and immigration$$xEconomic aspects. 001431009 650_0 $$aWelfare state. 001431009 650_0 $$aSocial mobility. 001431009 650_6 $$aÉmigration et immigration. 001431009 650_6 $$aÉmigration et immigration$$xAspect économique. 001431009 650_6 $$aÉtat providence. 001431009 650_6 $$aMobilité sociale. 001431009 655_0 $$aElectronic books. 001431009 7001_ $$aRyndyk, Oleksandr,$$eeditor. 001431009 7001_ $$aSuter, Brigitte,$$d1977-$$eeditor. 001431009 7001_ $$aOdden, Gunhild,$$eeditor. 001431009 830_0 $$aIMISCOE research series.$$x2364-4087 001431009 852__ $$bebk 001431009 85640 $$3Springer Nature$$uhttps://link.springer.com/10.1007/978-3-030-67615-5$$zOnline Access$$91397441.2 001431009 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:1431009$$pGLOBAL_SET 001431009 980__ $$aBIB 001431009 980__ $$aEBOOK 001431009 982__ $$aEbook 001431009 983__ $$aOnline 001431009 994__ $$a92$$bISE
