Conclusions: what innovations resulted from university-school collaborations during the Covid-19 pandemic?. 001431169 5060_ $$aOpen access$$5GW5XE 001431169 520__ $$aBased on twenty case studies of universities worldwide, and on a survey administered to leaders in 101 universities, this open access book shows that, amidst the significant challenges caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, universities found ways to engage with schools to support them in sustaining educational opportunity. In doing so, they generated considerable innovation, which reinforced the integration of the research and outreach functions of the university. The evidence suggests that universities are indeed open systems, in interaction with their environment, able to discover changes that can influence them and to change in response to those changes. They are also able, in the success of their efforts to mitigate the educational impact of the pandemic, to create better futures, as the result of the innovations they can generate. This challenges the view of universities as "ivory towers" being isolated from the surrounding environment and detached from local problems. As they reached out to schools, universities not only generated clear and valuable innovations to sustain educational opportunity and to improve it, this process also contributed to transform internal university processes in ways that enhanced their own ability to deliver on the third mission of outreach 001431169 588__ $$aOnline resource; title from PDF title page (SpringerLink, viewed October 18, 2021). 001431169 647_7 $$aCOVID-19 Pandemic$$d(2020- )$$2fast$$0(OCoLC)fst02024716 001431169 650_0 $$aCollege-school cooperation. 001431169 650_0 $$aCOVID-19 Pandemic, 2020- 001431169 650_6 $$aCoopération université-école. 001431169 650_6 $$aPandémie de COVID-19, 2020- 001431169 655_0 $$aElectronic books. 001431169 7001_ $$aReimers, Fernando,$$eeditor. 001431169 7001_ $$aMarmolejo, Francisco J.,$$eeditor. 001431169 830_0 $$aKnowledge studies in higher education ;$$vv. 8.$$x2566-8315 001431169 852__ $$bebk 001431169 85640 $$3Springer Nature$$uhttps://link.springer.com/10.1007/978-3-030-82159-3$$zOnline Access$$91397441.2 001431169 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:1431169$$pGLOBAL_SET 001431169 980__ $$aBIB 001431169 980__ $$aEBOOK 001431169 982__ $$aEbook 001431169 983__ $$aOnline 001431169 994__ $$a92$$bISE
