Based on a cross-national survey, the book offers a comparative analysis of the viewpoints and activities of university-based political scientists on external engagement. Political scientists in Europe appear more extrovert as academics than sometimes thought. In their professional functioning they engage in delivering knowledge and advice to all kinds of stakeholders in the policy process. This volume contains twelve in-depth country studies where different trends are visible, from political regime change to pressure for impact of academic work. The findings from this comparative analysis may inform our orientation on interaction between academics and their social and political environment, and what this means for education and training in university programs in political science. Marleen Brans is Professor at the KU Leuven Public Governance Institute, Belgium. Arco Timmermans is Professor of Public Affairs at Leiden University, the Netherlands. 001431279 588__ $$aDescription based upon print version of record. 001431279 650_0 $$aPolitical scientists in government$$zEurope. 001431279 650_0 $$aPolitical consultants$$zEurope. 001431279 650_0 $$aPolicy scientists$$zEurope. 001431279 650_0 $$aPolitical planning$$zEurope. 001431279 650_6 $$aPolitologues de la fonction publique$$zEurope. 001431279 650_6 $$aConseillers politiques$$zEurope. 001431279 650_6 $$aPolitique publique$$zEurope. 001431279 655_0 $$aElectronic books. 001431279 7001_ $$aBrans, M.$$q(Marleen),$$eeditor. 001431279 7001_ $$aTimmermans, Arco I.,$$d1964-$$eeditor. 001431279 77608 $$iPrint version:$$tAdvisory roles of political scientists in Europe.$$dBasingstoke : Palgrave Macmillan, 2021$$z9783030860042$$w(OCoLC)1285687784 001431279 852__ $$bebk 001431279 85640 $$3Springer Nature$$uhttps://link.springer.com/10.1007/978-3-030-86005-9$$zOnline Access$$91397441.2 001431279 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:1431279$$pGLOBAL_SET 001431279 980__ $$aBIB 001431279 980__ $$aEBOOK 001431279 982__ $$aEbook 001431279 983__ $$aOnline 001431279 994__ $$a92$$bISE
