This open access monograph is the first to investigate different types of control problems for conservation laws that arise in the modeling of vehicular traffic. Four types of control problems are discussed - boundary, decentralized, distributed, and Lagrangian control - corresponding to, respectively, entrance points and tolls, traffic signals at junctions, variable speed limits, and the use of autonomy and communication. Because conservation laws are strictly connected to Hamilton-Jacobi equations, control of the latter is also considered. An appendix reviewing the general theory of initial-boundary value problems for balance laws is included, as well as an appendix illustrating the main concepts in the theory of conservation laws on networks. 001431361 588__ $$aOnline resource; title from PDF title page (SpringerLink, viewed April 26, 2022). 001431361 650_0 $$aConservation laws (Mathematics) 001431361 650_6 $$aLois de conservation (Mathématiques) 001431361 655_0 $$aElectronic books. 001431361 7001_ $$aDelle Monache, Maria Laura,$$eauthor. 001431361 7001_ $$aGaravello, Mauro,$$eauthor. 001431361 7001_ $$aGoatin, Paola,$$eauthor. 001431361 7001_ $$aPiccoli, Benedetto,$$d1968-$$eauthor. 001431361 830_0 $$aProgress in nonlinear differential equations and their applications.$$pPNLDE subseries in control ;$$vv. 99. 001431361 852__ $$bebk 001431361 85640 $$3Springer Nature$$uhttps://link.springer.com/10.1007/978-3-030-93015-8$$zOnline Access$$91397441.2 001431361 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:1431361$$pGLOBAL_SET 001431361 980__ $$aBIB 001431361 980__ $$aEBOOK 001431361 982__ $$aEbook 001431361 983__ $$aOnline 001431361 994__ $$a92$$bISE
