The author utilises the PULSE3 analytical framework to conduct an in-depth examination and to show how experts frame and implement the municipalitys green and ecological infrastructure strategies and projects. Although the initial purpose of this book was to investigate the role of green and ecological infrastructures in eThekwinis water security aspirations, the author realised that climate change adaptation and mitigation play a more central role in motivating the municipality to develop and implement such science-driven projects. To be sure, science that is informed by a positivist paradigm, guides how, where and when the municipality should develop green and ecological infrastructures. Furthermore, a positivistic stance is generated in this policy landscape, where science and politics meet at a local government level, and the book offers an insight into the science-policy interface, as well as the normative and value orientations that positivism often ignores. The book also shows the usefulness of the PULSE3 framework and how it can assist scientists in all fields to gain a deeper understanding of the complications that are faced by humankind. This book fills a market gap by providing a view of how scientists think about problems and how to solve them by using established paradigms and theories. 001431869 588__ $$aOnline resource; title from digital title page (viewed on October 14, 2020). 001431869 650_0 $$aMunicipal water supply$$zSouth Africa$$zeThekwini Municipality Metropolitan. 001431869 650_0 $$aWater security$$zSouth Africa$$zDurban. 001431869 650_6 $$aSécurité de l'eau$$zAfrique du Sud$$zDurban. 001431869 655_0 $$aElectronic books. 001431869 77608 $$iPrint version:$$aMeissner, Richard.$$tEThekwini's Green and Ecological Infrastructure Policy Landscape : Towards a Deeper Understanding.$$dCham : Springer International Publishing AG, ©2020$$z9783030530501 001431869 852__ $$bebk 001431869 85640 $$3Springer Nature$$uhttps://univsouthin.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https://link.springer.com/10.1007/978-3-030-53051-8$$zOnline Access$$91397441.1 001431869 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:1431869$$pGLOBAL_SET 001431869 980__ $$aBIB 001431869 980__ $$aEBOOK 001431869 982__ $$aEbook 001431869 983__ $$aOnline 001431869 994__ $$a92$$bISE
