It aims at a comprehensive understanding of the circumstances which led to the emergence of a Turkish Cypriot state of exception, as well as the procedures which led to the strengthening of resistance against its normalization. For a more comprehensive decoding of the aforementioned, this book studies the presence of Turkey in the everyday life of Turkish Cypriots in the framework of colonial politics. It examines in detail the transformation of the Cypriot space as it resulted from the pursuit for normalization of the state of exception. At the same time, however, this research underlines the ways in which the Turkish Cypriot opposition hinders the normalization of the state of exception through an alternative political program against the partition of Cyprus. The book aims to contribute to the broader academic research on states of exception and non-recognized state structures, through analyzing the ruptures caused in the hegemonic project. The research concerns the 1964-2004 period and is mainly, but not entirely, based on a large volume of primary sources. Nikos Moudouros is a Lecturer at the Department of Turkish and Middle Eastern Studies, University of Cyprus.--$$cProvided by publisher. 001432160 588__ $$aOnline resource; title from digital title page (viewed on November 10, 2020). 001432160 647_7 $$aCyprus Crisis$$c(Cyprus :$$d1974- )$$2fast$$0(OCoLC)fst01352681 001432160 650_0 $$aTurks$$zCyprus. 001432160 650_0 $$aPartition, Territorial. 001432160 650_0 $$aDismemberment of nations. 001432160 650_6 $$aTurcs$$zChypre. 001432160 650_6 $$aDémembrement des nations. 001432160 651_0 $$aCyprus$$xHistory$$yCyprus Crisis, 1974- 001432160 651_0 $$aCyprus$$xPolitics and government. 001432160 651_6 $$aChypre$$xHistoire$$y1974- (Crise chypriote) 001432160 655_7 $$aHistory.$$2fast$$0(OCoLC)fst01411628 001432160 655_0 $$aElectronic books. 001432160 77608 $$iPrint version:$$aMoudouros, Nikos.$$tState of Exception in the Mediterranean : Turkey and the Turkish Cypriot Community.$$dCham : Springer International Publishing AG, ©2020$$z9783030568726 001432160 852__ $$bebk 001432160 85640 $$3Springer Nature$$uhttps://univsouthin.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https://link.springer.com/10.1007/978-3-030-56873-3$$zOnline Access$$91397441.1 001432160 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:1432160$$pGLOBAL_SET 001432160 980__ $$aBIB 001432160 980__ $$aEBOOK 001432160 982__ $$aEbook 001432160 983__ $$aOnline 001432160 994__ $$a92$$bISE
