The aim is to reveal the processes at work, the historical and contemporary circumstances, and the strategies and motives of the actors involved. The book highlights the roles of the European Union and of judicial third parties in the management of the conflict. Further, it considers the precedent-setting value of the Slovenian-Croatian conflict, the attempts at its resolution, and what they mean for the ongoing and prospective EU enlargement in South East Europe. Internal documents and interviews are at the heart of this process-tracing analysis, which discusses the third-party roles of the European Commission and the EU Council Presidency in 2008/2009 as a mediator-facilitator in the drafting stages of the arbitration agreement, and the judicial work of the arbitration tribunal and the EU Court of Justice. Lastly, the book offers policy recommendations on how to strengthen dispute resolution and solve current bilateral issues in the EU accession process.--$$cProvided by publisher. 001432212 588__ $$aOnline resource; title from digital title page (viewed on December 04, 2020). 001432212 651_0 $$aCroatia$$xBoundaries. 001432212 651_0 $$aSlovenia$$xBoundaries. 001432212 651_0 $$aCroatia$$xForeign relations$$zSlovenia. 001432212 651_0 $$aSlovenia$$xForeign relations$$zCroatia. 001432212 651_0 $$aCroatia$$xPolitics and government$$xHistory. 001432212 651_0 $$aSlovenia$$xPolitics and government$$xHistory. 001432212 651_6 $$aCroatie$$xRelations extérieures$$zSlovénie. 001432212 651_6 $$aCroatie$$xPolitique et gouvernement$$xHistoire. 001432212 651_6 $$aSlovénie$$xPolitique et gouvernement$$xHistoire. 001432212 655_7 $$aHistory.$$2fast$$0(OCoLC)fst01411628 001432212 655_0 $$aElectronic books. 001432212 77608 $$iPrint version:$$aBickl, Thomas.$$tBorder Dispute Between Croatia and Slovenia : The Stages of a Protracted Conflict and Its Implications for EU Enlargement.$$dCham : Springer International Publishing AG, ©2020$$z9783030533328 001432212 830_0 $$aContributions to political science. 001432212 852__ $$bebk 001432212 85640 $$3Springer Nature$$uhttps://univsouthin.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https://link.springer.com/10.1007/978-3-030-53333-5$$zOnline Access$$91397441.1 001432212 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:1432212$$pGLOBAL_SET 001432212 980__ $$aBIB 001432212 980__ $$aEBOOK 001432212 982__ $$aEbook 001432212 983__ $$aOnline 001432212 994__ $$a92$$bISE
