In order to better understand the human agency, creativity and forms of sanctity of medieval England, these essays investigate both the production of medieval texts and the people whose hands and minds created, altered and/or published them. The chapters consider the writings of major authors such as Chaucer, Gower and Wyclif in relation to texts, authors and ideals less well-known today, and in light of the translation and interpretive reproduction of the Bible in Middle English. The essays make some texts available for the first time in print, and examine the roles of historical scholars in the construction of medieval English literature and textual cultures. By doing so, this collection investigates what it means to recover, study and represent some of the key medieval English texts that continue to influence us today. 001433095 588__ $$aOnline resource; title from digital title page (viewed on January 14, 2021). 001433095 60010 $$aChaucer, Geoffrey,$$d-1400$$xCriticism and interpretation. 001433095 63000 $$aBible.$$lEnglish (Middle English)$$xVersions$$xWycliffe. 001433095 650_0 $$aEnglish literature$$yMiddle English, 1100-1500$$xHistory and criticism. 001433095 650_0 $$aAuthorship$$xHistory$$yTo 1500. 001433095 650_0 $$aManuscripts, Medieval$$zEngland. 001433095 650_0 $$aBooks and reading$$zEngland$$xHistory$$yTo 1500. 001433095 650_0 $$aBook industries and trade$$zEngland$$xHistory$$yTo 1500. 001433095 650_0 $$aLollards$$xBooks and reading. 001433095 650_0 $$aEnglish philology$$yOld English, ca. 450-1100$$xHistory. 001433095 650_6 $$aLittérature anglaise$$y1100-1500 (Moyen anglais)$$xHistoire et critique. 001433095 655_7 $$aCriticism, interpretation, etc.$$2fast$$0(OCoLC)fst01411635 001433095 655_7 $$aHistory.$$2fast$$0(OCoLC)fst01411628 001433095 655_0 $$aElectronic books. 001433095 7001_ $$aRowley, Sharon M.,$$eeditor. 001433095 77608 $$iPrint version:$$tWriters, editors and exemplars in medieval English texts.$$dCham, Switzerland : Palgrave Macmillan, [2021]$$z9783030557232$$w(OCoLC)1230512872 001433095 830_0 $$aNew Middle Ages (Palgrave Macmillan (Firm)) 001433095 852__ $$bebk 001433095 85640 $$3Springer Nature$$uhttps://univsouthin.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https://link.springer.com/10.1007/978-3-030-55724-9$$zOnline Access$$91397441.1 001433095 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:1433095$$pGLOBAL_SET 001433095 980__ $$aBIB 001433095 980__ $$aEBOOK 001433095 982__ $$aEbook 001433095 983__ $$aOnline 001433095 994__ $$a92$$bISE
