These neoliberalist hierarchies imposed through traditional, autocratic knowledge systems have driven much of the United States' educational policies and reforms, including STEM, high stakes testing, individual-based accountability, hierarchical grading systems, and ability grouping tracks. The net effect of such policies and reforms is an education system that perpetuates social inequalities linked with race, class, gender, and sexuality. Instead, the author suggests that accountability pushes past individualism in education by highlighting democratic methods to produce a collective good as opposed to a narrow personal success. In this democratic model, participants contribute to the common goal of elevating the entire group. Drawing from a well of creative praxes, reflexivity, and spiritual engagement, contributors incorporate collective dreaming to envision alternate realities of learning and schooling and summon the spirit into action for change. 001433206 650_0 $$aEducation$$xPhilosophy. 001433206 650_0 $$aPhilosophy. 001433206 650_0 $$aPostcolonialism. 001433206 650_0 $$aEducational sociology. 001433206 650_0 $$aAlternative education. 001433206 650_6 $$aÉducation$$xPhilosophie. 001433206 650_6 $$aPhilosophie. 001433206 650_6 $$aPostcolonialisme. 001433206 650_6 $$aSociologie de l'éducation. 001433206 650_6 $$aÉducation alternative. 001433206 655_0 $$aElectronic books. 001433206 7001_ $$aCammarota, Julio,$$eeditor. 001433206 77608 $$iPrint version:$$z9783030566845 001433206 77608 $$iPrint version:$$z9783030566869 001433206 77608 $$iPrint version:$$z9783030566876 001433206 830_0 $$aPalgrave Macmillan's postcolonial studies in education. 001433206 852__ $$bebk 001433206 85640 $$3Springer Nature$$uhttps://univsouthin.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https://link.springer.com/10.1007/978-3-030-56685-2$$zOnline Access$$91397441.1 001433206 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:1433206$$pGLOBAL_SET 001433206 980__ $$aBIB 001433206 980__ $$aEBOOK 001433206 982__ $$aEbook 001433206 983__ $$aOnline 001433206 994__ $$a92$$bISE
