In Volume II, Bell and Armstrong examine the revival of Sheffield boxing after the decline of the 1950s and 1960s outlined in Volume I. Instigated by two men from outside the city--Brendan Ingle and Herol Graham--this renaissance became known as the 'Ingle style, ' which between 1995 and 2014 produced four world champions: Naseem Hamed, Johnny Nelson, Junior Witter and Kell Brook. These successes inspired others and raised Sheffield's profile as a boxing city, which in the 1990s and 2000s produced two more world champions in Paul 'Silky' Jones and Clinton Woods. In this second volume, Bell and Armstrong track the resurgence of boxing to the present day and consider how the game and its players have changed over time. Matthew Bell has served as editor of the Sheffield United FC magazine Flashing Blade since 1989, and, amongst other books, he is co-author of Steel and Grace: Sheffield's Olympic Track and Field Medallists (2014), with Gary Armstrong. Gary Armstrong is Senior Lecturer in Criminology at City University of London, UK. Amongst several projects on sport, criminology, and surveillance, he co-authored Mixed Occupancy Housing in London: A Living Tapestry? with James Rosbrook Thompson. 001433588 588__ $$aCIP data; resource not viewed. 001433588 650_0 $$aBoxing$$zEngland$$zSheffield$$xHistory. 001433588 650_0 $$aBoxing$$xSocial aspects$$zEngland$$zSheffield$$xHistory. 001433588 650_6 $$aBoxe$$zAngleterre$$zSheffield$$xHistoire. 001433588 650_6 $$aBoxe$$xAspect social$$zAngleterre$$zSheffield$$xHistoire. 001433588 655_7 $$aHistory.$$2fast$$0(OCoLC)fst01411628 001433588 655_0 $$aElectronic books. 001433588 7001_ $$aArmstrong, Gary,$$d1960-$$eauthor. 001433588 77608 $$iPrint version:$$z9783030635527 001433588 830_0 $$aPalgrave studies in urban anthropology. 001433588 852__ $$bebk 001433588 85640 $$3Springer Nature$$uhttps://univsouthin.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https://link.springer.com/10.1007/978-3-030-63553-4$$zOnline Access$$91397441.1 001433588 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:1433588$$pGLOBAL_SET 001433588 980__ $$aBIB 001433588 980__ $$aEBOOK 001433588 982__ $$aEbook 001433588 983__ $$aOnline 001433588 994__ $$a92$$bISE
