It is important to put the current knowledge on weakly and strongly stratified convection in order, and provide a comprehensive description of the marginal, weakly nonlinear and fully developed stages of convective flow in both cases. The book provides a short compendium of knowledge on the linear and weakly nonlinear limits of the Boussinesq convection, and a review of the theory on fully developed Boussinesq convection. The third chapter is devoted to a detailed derivation and a study of the three aforementioned stages of stratified (anelastic) convection, with a full solution in the marginal stage provided for the first time. Detailed and systematic explanations are given. The book is intended mainly as a textbook for courses on hydrodynamics and convective flows, for the use of lecturers and students; however, it also serves for the entire scientific community as a practical reference. 001433905 588__ $$aOnline resource; title from PDF title page (SpringerLink, viewed February 26, 2021). 001433905 650_0 $$aBuoyant convection$$xMathematical models. 001433905 650_0 $$aOcean circulation$$xMathematical models. 001433905 650_0 $$aAtmospheric circulation$$xMathematical models. 001433905 650_0 $$aThermodynamics. 001433905 650_0 $$aMathematical physics. 001433905 650_6 $$aConvection gravitationnelle$$xModèles mathématiques. 001433905 650_6 $$aCirculation océanique$$xModèles mathématiques. 001433905 650_6 $$aCirculation atmosphérique$$xModèles mathématiques. 001433905 650_6 $$aThermodynamique. 001433905 650_6 $$aPhysique mathématique. 001433905 655_0 $$aElectronic books. 001433905 77608 $$iPrint version:$$z9783030630539 001433905 830_0 $$aGeoPlanet.$$x2190-5193 001433905 852__ $$bebk 001433905 85640 $$3Springer Nature$$uhttps://univsouthin.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https://link.springer.com/10.1007/978-3-030-63054-6$$zOnline Access$$91397441.1 001433905 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:1433905$$pGLOBAL_SET 001433905 980__ $$aBIB 001433905 980__ $$aEBOOK 001433905 982__ $$aEbook 001433905 983__ $$aOnline 001433905 994__ $$a92$$bISE
