While most studies of land degradation in India focus on economic outcomes and physical processes at macro and micro levels, this study addresses land degradation at the meso-level to fill in this gap and provide up-to-date information on often overlooked factors associated with land degradation issues using the latest available data. Districts in the study were selected by land degradation intensity, forming an index of the severity of land degradation in the area, with a focus on gullied lands, soil salinity/alkalinity and open and dense scrubs as indicators. Though the study areas are in India, researchers, policy makers and students around the world will be able to learn from these inputs regarding land degradation to address various challenges associated with sustainable land management and agricultural productivity. 001435199 588__ $$aOnline resource; title from PDF title page (SpringerLink, viewed April 6, 2021). 001435199 650_0 $$aLand degradation$$zIndia$$xStatistical methods. 001435199 650_6 $$aTerres$$xDégradation$$zInde$$xMéthodes statistiques. 001435199 655_0 $$aElectronic books. 001435199 77608 $$iPrint version:$$aPriya, Ratan.$$tLand Degradation in India.$$dCham : Springer International Publishing AG, ©2021$$z9783030688479 001435199 830_0 $$aSpringerBriefs in environmental science. 001435199 852__ $$bebk 001435199 85640 $$3Springer Nature$$uhttps://univsouthin.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https://link.springer.com/10.1007/978-3-030-68848-6$$zOnline Access$$91397441.1 001435199 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:1435199$$pGLOBAL_SET 001435199 980__ $$aBIB 001435199 980__ $$aEBOOK 001435199 982__ $$aEbook 001435199 983__ $$aOnline 001435199 994__ $$a92$$bISE
