Since the Arab Spring of 2011, the geo-political situation in MENA has further drifted towards instability and uncertainty. Expert analysis of the region seems to lurch from one crisis to another without moving beyond a focus on conflict. Few scholars have recognised that the MENA governments have long regarded regional economic integration as a chief policy objective to facilitate intra-regional trade and promote political cooperation and peace. Realising the shortcomings of the various integrative processes, Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt and Jordan signed the Agadir Agreement in 2004. To this date, it stands as one of the most significant economic agreements in the MENA region. Taking into account this variety of factors, this book offers a new assessment of the pull between unity and disunity in the Middle East and North Africa region. Dr Tarik Oumazzane is Lecturer in Middle East / North Africa Studies in the Department of History at the University of Nottingham, United Kingdom. He has taught and convened several modules including: International History of the Middle East and North Africa; War and Peace in the Post-Arab Spring; Political Economy of Under Development, International Relations and Global History and Liberating Africa: Decolonisation, Development and the Cold War. 001435515 588__ $$aOnline resource; title from PDF title page (SpringerLink, viewed April 8, 2021). 001435515 651_0 $$aMiddle East$$xForeign economic relations$$zAfrica, North. 001435515 651_0 $$aAfrica, North$$xForeign economic relations$$zMiddle East. 001435515 651_0 $$aMiddle East$$xForeign relations$$zAfrica, North. 001435515 651_0 $$aAfrica, North$$xForeign relations$$zMiddle East. 001435515 651_0 $$aMiddle East$$xPolitics and government$$y21st century. 001435515 651_0 $$aAfrica, North$$xPolitics and government$$y21st century. 001435515 651_6 $$aMoyen-Orient$$xRelations extérieures$$zAfrique du Nord. 001435515 651_6 $$aMoyen-Orient$$xPolitique et gouvernement$$y21e siècle. 001435515 655_0 $$aElectronic books. 001435515 77608 $$iPrint version:$$z9789813364516$$w(OCoLC)1242749652 001435515 830_0 $$aPolitical economy of the Middle East. 001435515 852__ $$bebk 001435515 85640 $$3Springer Nature$$uhttps://univsouthin.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https://link.springer.com/10.1007/978-981-33-6452-3$$zOnline Access$$91397441.1 001435515 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:1435515$$pGLOBAL_SET 001435515 980__ $$aBIB 001435515 980__ $$aEBOOK 001435515 982__ $$aEbook 001435515 983__ $$aOnline 001435515 994__ $$a92$$bISE
