Child language brokering (CLB) is a form of interpreting carried out informally by children, typically for migrant families. The study of sign language brokering has been largely absent from the emerging body of CLB literature. The book gives an overview of the international, multi-stage, mixed-method study employing an online survey, semi-structured interviews and visual methods, to explore the lived experiences of deaf parents and heritage signers. It will be of interest to practitioners and academics working with signing deaf communities and those who wish to pursue professional practice with deaf communities, as well as academics and students in the fields of Applied Linguistics, Intercultural Communication, Interpreting Studies and the Social Science of Childhood. Jemina Napier is Chair of Intercultural Communication at Heriot-Watt University, UK, and is currently the Director of the Centre for Translation & Interpreting Studies in Scotland and Director of Research in the School of Social Sciences. Jemina is a heritage signer from a multigenerational deaf family and has practised as a sign language interpreter since 1989. 001435913 588__ $$aDescription based on print version record. 001435913 650_0 $$aSign language$$xTranslating. 001435913 650_0 $$aInterpreters for the deaf. 001435913 650_0 $$aDeaf parents$$xLanguage. 001435913 650_0 $$aChildren of deaf parents$$xLanguage. 001435913 650_6 $$aLangage par signes$$xTraduction. 001435913 655_0 $$aElectronic books. 001435913 77608 $$iPrint version:$$aNapier, Jemina.$$tSign language brokering in deaf-hearing families.$$dBasingstoke : Palgrave Macmillan, 2021$$z9783030671396$$w(OCoLC)1242747035 001435913 852__ $$bebk 001435913 85640 $$3Springer Nature$$uhttps://univsouthin.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https://link.springer.com/10.1007/978-3-030-67140-2$$zOnline Access$$91397441.1 001435913 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:1435913$$pGLOBAL_SET 001435913 980__ $$aBIB 001435913 980__ $$aEBOOK 001435913 982__ $$aEbook 001435913 983__ $$aOnline 001435913 994__ $$a92$$bISE
