This work is of utmost importance for the forthcoming generation of multipetawatt laser facilities where this physics will be tested. The first part consists of an introduction that extends from classical and quantum electrodynamics in strong fields to the kinetic description of plasmas in the interaction with such fields. This can be considered as an advanced tutorial which would be extremely useful to researchers and students new to the field. The second part describes original contributions on the analysis of the signatures of classical and quantum radiation reaction on the distribution function of the charged particles and of the photon spectrum, and leads to significant advances on this topic. These results are then extended to the analysis of the so-called QED cascades which are of central importance for a better understanding of some astrophysical phenomena and basic physics problems. Finally, the book discusses future directions for the high intensity laser plasma interaction community. The results presented in this thesis are expected to become more and more relevant as the new multipetawatt facilities become operative. 001436479 650_0 $$aPlasma dynamics. 001436479 650_0 $$aQuantum electrodynamics. 001436479 650_6 $$aDynamique des plasmas. 001436479 650_6 $$aÉlectrodynamique quantique. 001436479 655_0 $$aElectronic books. 001436479 77608 $$iPrint version:$$aNiel, Fabien.$$tClassical and quantum description of plasma and radiation in strong fields.$$dCham : Springer, 2021$$z303073546X$$z9783030735463$$w(OCoLC)1241244199 001436479 830_0 $$aSpringer theses,$$x2190-5053 001436479 852__ $$bebk 001436479 85640 $$3Springer Nature$$uhttps://univsouthin.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https://link.springer.com/10.1007/978-3-030-73547-0$$zOnline Access$$91397441.1 001436479 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:1436479$$pGLOBAL_SET 001436479 980__ $$aBIB 001436479 980__ $$aEBOOK 001436479 982__ $$aEbook 001436479 983__ $$aOnline 001436479 994__ $$a92$$bISE
