It analyzes how underground spaces such as the subway, the sewage system, tunnels, crypts, and the subsoil itself relate to the whole of the city in a body of works published after 1985, the year of the deadliest earthquake in the capitals history. The texts belong to the most important genres in urban literature (the novel, the short story, and the cronica) and demonstrate the crucial role played by the underground in contemporary imaginings of the megalopolis, as it condenses and confronts the tensions that run through them. This central idea is developed through four analytical chapters focusing on the political, ecological, historical, and aesthetic dimension of subterranean imaginaries. 001436566 588__ $$aDescription based on print version record. 001436566 650_0 $$aLiterature, Modern$$y20th century$$xHistory and criticism. 001436566 650_0 $$aLiterature, Modern$$y21st century$$xHistory and criticism. 001436566 650_0 $$aUnderground areas in literature. 001436566 650_6 $$aLittérature$$y20e siècle$$xHistoire et critique. 001436566 650_6 $$aLittérature$$y21e siècle$$xHistoire et critique. 001436566 650_6 $$aZones souterraines dans la littérature. 001436566 651_0 $$aMexico City (Mexico)$$xIn literature. 001436566 655_7 $$aCriticism, interpretation, etc.$$2fast$$0(OCoLC)fst01411635 001436566 655_0 $$aElectronic books. 001436566 77608 $$iPrint version:$$aFrançois, Liesbeth.$$tSubterranean space in contemporary Mexico City literature.$$dBasingstoke : Palgrave Macmillan, 2021$$z9783030694555$$w(OCoLC)1242854097 001436566 830_0 $$aHispanic urban studies. 001436566 852__ $$bebk 001436566 85640 $$3Springer Nature$$uhttps://univsouthin.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https://link.springer.com/10.1007/978-3-030-69456-2$$zOnline Access$$91397441.1 001436566 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:1436566$$pGLOBAL_SET 001436566 980__ $$aBIB 001436566 980__ $$aEBOOK 001436566 982__ $$aEbook 001436566 983__ $$aOnline 001436566 994__ $$a92$$bISE
