The volume draws on a queer-theoretical framework in order to highlight norm-critical dimensions, failure, and resistance in literature about motherhood. Jenny Björklund argues that novels about mothers who leave can be understood as ways to problematize and challenge Swedish-branded values like gender equality and a progressive family politics that promotes ideals of involved parenthood, the nuclear family, and pronatalism. The book also raises questions beyond the Swedish context about maternal ambivalence, family politics, and privilege and discusses how literature can work as resistance and provide alternatives to the current social order. 001437514 588__ $$aOnline resource; title from PDF title page (SpringerLink, viewed June 22, 2021). 001437514 650_0 $$aSwedish literature$$y21st century$$xHistory and criticism. 001437514 650_0 $$aMothers in literature. 001437514 650_0 $$aAbandoned children in literature. 001437514 650_0 $$aQueer theory. 001437514 650_6 $$aLittérature suédoise$$y21e siècle$$xHistoire et critique. 001437514 650_6 $$aMères dans la littérature. 001437514 650_6 $$aEnfants abandonnés dans la littérature. 001437514 650_6 $$aThéorie queer. 001437514 655_7 $$aCriticism, interpretation, etc.$$2fast$$0(OCoLC)fst01411635 001437514 655_0 $$aElectronic books. 001437514 77608 $$iPrint version:$$z3030728919$$z9783030728915$$w(OCoLC)1240492859 001437514 852__ $$bebk 001437514 85640 $$3Springer Nature$$uhttps://univsouthin.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https://link.springer.com/10.1007/978-3-030-72892-2$$zOnline Access$$91397441.1 001437514 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:1437514$$pGLOBAL_SET 001437514 980__ $$aBIB 001437514 980__ $$aEBOOK 001437514 982__ $$aEbook 001437514 983__ $$aOnline 001437514 994__ $$a92$$bISE
