It suggests various policy recommendations on how to increase the share of renewable energy resources in the energy baskets of the members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and the rest of the world to ensure energy sustainability. As of 2020, most of the world's energy investment still went to carbon-emitting sources, namely, fossil fuels. On the other hand, the Covid-19 pandemic and the economic Project Overview 20 March 2021 08:39 Page 6 of 9 downturns shrank the global energy demand, including fossil fuels, resulting in a sharp drop in their prices. Low fossil fuel prices are harmful to developing renewable energy projects, making solar, wind, and other renewable energy resources less competitive as sources of electricity. This is endangering the Paris agreement and the Climate Action goal of the United Nations. Given the high share of fossil fuels in the energy mix of the members of ASEAN, tremendous challenges must be faced for their energy transition in the post-Covid-19 world. The authors call for sound policy and applicable technologies to ensure sustainable energy availability, accessibility, and affordability to reach emission reduction targets. 001438258 588__ $$aOnline resource; title from PDF title page (SpringerLink, viewed August 2, 2021). 001438258 650_0 $$aClimatic changes$$zSoutheast Asia. 001438258 650_0 $$aClimatic changes$$xEconomic aspects$$zSoutheast Asia. 001438258 650_0 $$aRenewable energy sources$$zSoutheast Asia. 001438258 650_6 $$aClimat$$xChangements$$zAsie du Sud-Est. 001438258 650_6 $$aClimat$$xChangements$$xAspect économique$$zAsie du Sud-Est. 001438258 650_6 $$aÉnergies renouvelables$$zAsie du Sud-Est. 001438258 655_0 $$aElectronic books. 001438258 7001_ $$aPhoumin, Han,$$eeditor. 001438258 7001_ $$aTaghizadeh-Hesary, Farhad,$$eeditor. 001438258 7001_ $$aKimura, Fukunari,$$eeditor. 001438258 7001_ $$aArima, Jun,$$eeditor. 001438258 77608 $$iPrint version:$$z9811619999$$z9789811619991$$w(OCoLC)1242465657 001438258 830_0 $$aEconomics, law, and institutions in Asia Pacific. 001438258 852__ $$bebk 001438258 85640 $$3Springer Nature$$uhttps://univsouthin.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https://link.springer.com/10.1007/978-981-16-2000-3$$zOnline Access$$91397441.1 001438258 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:1438258$$pGLOBAL_SET 001438258 980__ $$aBIB 001438258 980__ $$aEBOOK 001438258 982__ $$aEbook 001438258 983__ $$aOnline 001438258 994__ $$a92$$bISE
