The study breaks new ground by systematically bringing together critical love studies with research into the cultures of migration, diaspora and refuge. Examining a notable tendency among current black feminist writers, poets and performers to insist on the affective dimension of world-making, the book ponders strategies of reconfiguring postcolonial discourses. Indeed, the analyses of literary works and intermedia performances by Chimamanda Adichie, Zadie Smith, Helen Oyeyemi, Shailja Patel and Warsan Shire reveal an urge of moving beyond a familiar insistence on processes of alienation or rupture and towards a new, reparative emphasis on connection and intimacy to imagine possible inhabitable worlds. Jennifer Leetsch is Lecturer in English Literature at the University of Wurzburg, Germany. Her research focuses on affect, gender and the black diaspora, and she has previously published on desire in African diasporic novels, refugee imaginaries and migratory material cultures. 001438283 588__ $$aDescription based on print version record. 001438283 650_0 $$aLiterature$$xBlack authors$$xHistory and criticism. 001438283 650_0 $$aLiterature$$xWomen authors$$xHistory and criticism. 001438283 650_0 $$aAfrican diaspora. 001438283 650_0 $$aEmigration and immigration in literature. 001438283 650_0 $$aLove in literature. 001438283 650_0 $$aAfrican diaspora in literature. 001438283 650_6 $$aLittérature$$xAuteurs noirs$$xHistoire et critique. 001438283 650_6 $$aÉcrits de femmes$$xHistoire et critique. 001438283 650_6 $$aAfricains$$zPays étrangers. 001438283 650_6 $$aÉmigration et immigration dans la littérature. 001438283 650_6 $$aAmour dans la littérature. 001438283 650_6 $$aAfricains$$zPays étrangers, dans la littérature. 001438283 655_7 $$aCriticism, interpretation, etc.$$2fast$$0(OCoLC)fst01411635 001438283 655_0 $$aElectronic books. 001438283 77608 $$iPrint version:$$aLeetsch, Jennifer.$$tLove and space in contemporary African diasporic women's writing.$$dBasingstoke : Palgrave Macmillan, 2021$$z9783030677534$$w(OCoLC)1242736406 001438283 830_0 $$aPalgrave studies in contemporary women's writing. 001438283 852__ $$bebk 001438283 85640 $$3Springer Nature$$uhttps://univsouthin.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https://link.springer.com/10.1007/978-3-030-67754-1$$zOnline Access$$91397441.1 001438283 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:1438283$$pGLOBAL_SET 001438283 980__ $$aBIB 001438283 980__ $$aEBOOK 001438283 982__ $$aEbook 001438283 983__ $$aOnline 001438283 994__ $$a92$$bISE
