To date, there have been far-reaching ramifications based on ineffective risk communication when clarifying these health endpoints. A BRCT is a familiar, theatrical chart representation of 1,000 people, with the risks and benefits shown by blackened seats. Since health outcomes can easily be put into such a chart, we show how BRCTs can be used objectively by professionals, the media and lay people. It allows characterization and communication of health benefits and risks of COVID-19 treatment and containment in an undemanding and straightforward way. BRCTs have been successfully used to assist patients in determining: · Their level of acceptable risk of various medical interventions; · If the benefits of intervention outweigh the risks; · Who should make the final decision regarding medical intervention; and · Whether the decision is evidence-based. Written by experts in the field, this book fills in a gap in communication between the medical community, the public and patients. It also provides an area of expertise in communication that is beneficial for medical providers and medical students. 001438936 588__ $$aOnline resource; title from PDF title page (SpringerLink, viewed August 20, 2021). 001438936 650_0 $$aHealth risk communication. 001438936 650_0 $$aCOVID-19 (Disease) 001438936 650_6 $$aRisques pour la santé$$xCommunication. 001438936 650_6 $$aCOVID-19. 001438936 655_0 $$aElectronic books. 001438936 7001_ $$aRifkin, Erik,$$eauthor. 001438936 77608 $$iPrint version:$$aLazris, Andrew.$$tUtilizing effective risk communication in COVID-19.$$dCham : Springer, 2021$$z9783030745202$$w(OCoLC)1242465103 001438936 852__ $$bebk 001438936 85640 $$3Springer Nature$$uhttps://univsouthin.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https://link.springer.com/10.1007/978-3-030-74521-9$$zOnline Access$$91397441.1 001438936 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:1438936$$pGLOBAL_SET 001438936 980__ $$aBIB 001438936 980__ $$aEBOOK 001438936 982__ $$aEbook 001438936 983__ $$aOnline 001438936 994__ $$a92$$bISE
