Though both countries are considered to be socially progressive and modern, not least by themselves, the author makes the novel and provocative argument that both Denmark and Sweden are caught in a (discourse) paradox when it comes to integration policy, which stands in the way of successful immigrant integration. The author uses an innovative approach to reconstruct the Danish and the Swedish national identity by using social studies schoolbooks and novels as research material, thereby adding an interdisciplinary dimension to the book. About the author Marilena Geugjes is a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Applied Sciences in Wiesbaden, Germany. She earned her doctorate in Political Science at Heidelberg University. Her research focuses on migration and integration policy, local politics, and the role of the police. 001438992 588__ $$aOnline resource; title from PDF title page (SpringerLink, viewed August 27, 2021). 001438992 650_0 $$aGroup identity$$zDenmark. 001438992 650_0 $$aGroup identity$$zSweden. 001438992 650_0 $$aSocial integration$$zDenmark. 001438992 650_0 $$aSocial integration$$zSweden. 001438992 650_0 $$aNational characteristics, Danish. 001438992 650_0 $$aNational characteristics, Swedish. 001438992 650_6 $$aIdentité collective$$zDanemark. 001438992 650_6 $$aIdentité collective$$zSuède. 001438992 650_6 $$aIntégration sociale$$zDanemark. 001438992 650_6 $$aIntégration sociale$$zSuède. 001438992 650_6 $$aDanois. 001438992 650_6 $$aSuédois. 001438992 651_0 $$aDenmark$$xEmigration and immigration$$xSocial aspects. 001438992 651_0 $$aSweden$$xEmigration and immigration$$xSocial aspects. 001438992 655_0 $$aElectronic books. 001438992 77608 $$iPrint version:$$aGeugjes, Marilena.$$tCollective identity and integration policy in Denmark and Sweden.$$dWiesbaden : Springer VS, [2021]$$z9783658339715$$w(OCoLC)1269196835 001438992 830_0 $$aStudien zur Migrations- und Integrationspolitik. 001438992 852__ $$bebk 001438992 85640 $$3Springer Nature$$uhttps://univsouthin.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https://link.springer.com/10.1007/978-3-658-33972-2$$zOnline Access$$91397441.1 001438992 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:1438992$$pGLOBAL_SET 001438992 980__ $$aBIB 001438992 980__ $$aEBOOK 001438992 982__ $$aEbook 001438992 983__ $$aOnline 001438992 994__ $$a92$$bISE
