The book explores how language use helps frame an event to elicit a particular interpretation from the reader and how this can be manipulated to introduce bias. Sirhan begins the book by examining the history of the conflict, and the many persistent myths that surround it. She analyses how five events in the conflict (two in which the Palestinians are victims, two in which the Israelis are victims, and Operation Cast Lead) are reported in five British newspapers: The Daily Mail, The Guardian, The Independent, The Daily Telegraph, and The Times. By looking at these events across a range of newspapers, the book investigates differences in the way that the media report each side, before exploring what factors motivate these differences including issues of bias, censorship, lobbying, and propaganda. 001439470 588__ $$aDescription based on print version record. 001439470 650_0 $$aArab-Israeli conflict$$xMass media and the conflict. 001439470 650_0 $$aNewspapers$$xLanguage. 001439470 650_0 $$aArab-Israeli conflict$$y1993-$$xForeign public opinion, British. 001439470 650_6 $$aConflit israélo-arabe dans les médias. 001439470 650_6 $$aJournaux$$xLangage. 001439470 655_0 $$aElectronic books. 001439470 77608 $$iPrint version:$$aSirhan, Nadia R.$$tReporting Palestine-Israel in British Newspapers.$$dCham : Springer International Publishing AG, ©2021$$z9783030170714 001439470 77608 $$iPrint version:$$aSirhan, Nadia R.$$tReporting Palestine-Israel in British newspapers$$z9783030170714$$w(OCoLC)1264403421 001439470 852__ $$bebk 001439470 85640 $$3Springer Nature$$uhttps://univsouthin.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https://link.springer.com/10.1007/978-3-030-17072-1$$zOnline Access$$91397441.1 001439470 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:1439470$$pGLOBAL_SET 001439470 980__ $$aBIB 001439470 980__ $$aEBOOK 001439470 982__ $$aEbook 001439470 983__ $$aOnline 001439470 994__ $$a92$$bISE
