Located within the research fields of global history and theory, the geographical focus of the book is a transatlantic one, based on the active exchange in this phase between North and South America and Europe. Emanating from a rich body of archival material, the study argues that this exchange was essentially facilitated and controlled by professional theatrical mediators (agents, brokers), who have not been sufficiently researched within theatre or historical studies. The low visibility of mediators in the scientific research is in diametrical contrast to the enormous power that they possessed in the period dealt with in this book. Nic Leonhardt is Associate Professor of Theatre Studies at LMU Munich. Her research focuses on theatre history of the nineteenth and twentieth century and is strongly interdisciplinary and transnational in approach. Since 2016 she has been the senior researcher and associate director of the ERC (European Research Council) project "Developing Theatre" at LMU Munich, as well as director of the Centre for Global Theatre History. 001439721 546__ $$aTranslated from German. 001439721 588__ $$aDescription based on print version record. 001439721 650_0 $$aTheater$$zAtlantic Ocean Region$$xHistory$$y19th century. 001439721 650_0 $$aTheater$$zAtlantic Ocean Region$$xHistory$$y20th century. 001439721 650_0 $$aTheatrical managers$$xHistory. 001439721 650_0 $$aTheatrical agents$$xHistory. 001439721 651_0 $$aEurope$$xRelations$$zNorth America. 001439721 651_0 $$aNorth America$$xRelations$$zEurope. 001439721 651_0 $$aEurope$$xRelations$$zLatin America. 001439721 651_0 $$aLatin America$$xRelations$$zEurope. 001439721 651_6 $$aEurope$$xRelations$$zAmérique du Nord. 001439721 651_6 $$aAmérique du Nord$$xRelations$$zEurope. 001439721 651_6 $$aEurope$$xRelations$$zAmérique latine. 001439721 655_7 $$aHistory.$$2fast$$0(OCoLC)fst01411628 001439721 655_0 $$aElectronic books. 001439721 77608 $$iPrint version:$$aLeonhardt, Nic.$$tTheatre across oceans.$$dBasingstoke : Palgrave Macmillan, 2021$$z9783030763541$$w(OCoLC)1263808290 001439721 830_0 $$aTransnational theatre histories. 001439721 852__ $$bebk 001439721 85640 $$3Springer Nature$$uhttps://univsouthin.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https://link.springer.com/10.1007/978-3-030-76355-8$$zOnline Access$$91397441.1 001439721 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:1439721$$pGLOBAL_SET 001439721 980__ $$aBIB 001439721 980__ $$aEBOOK 001439721 982__ $$aEbook 001439721 983__ $$aOnline 001439721 994__ $$a92$$bISE
