In so doing, the author applies Foucaults genealogical (historicalization) method to explore the ways the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) develop Chinese governmentality (or government of mentalities) among everyday workers in its thought management system. Through the investigation of the key events in Chinese history, she presents how Chinas stable political party is sustained through the CCPs ability to retain, update and incorporate many Confucian discourses into its contemporary form of thought management system using social networks, such as families and schools, to continuously (re- ) shape workers consciousness into one that maintains their docility. This book will bring a new voice to the debate of Chinese working-class politics and labour movements. It will serve as a gateway to comprehensive knowledge about China for students and academics with interests in Chinese employment relations, Chinese politics, labourist activist culture, and social movements. Elly Leung is a research officer at the University of Western Australia. Since completing the doctoral thesis that explored how workers consciousness and mentalities were (re- ) shaped by the State in China, her writings have appeared in various books and journals. 001439793 588__ $$aDescription based on print version record. 001439793 650_0 $$aWorking class$$zChina. 001439793 650_0 $$aWorking class$$xPolitical activity$$zChina. 001439793 650_0 $$aLabor movement$$zChina. 001439793 650_6 $$aTravailleurs$$zChine. 001439793 650_6 $$aTravailleurs$$xActivité politique$$zChine. 001439793 650_6 $$aMouvement ouvrier$$zChine. 001439793 655_0 $$aElectronic books. 001439793 77608 $$iPrint version:$$aYue, Hua, 1942-$$t(Re)making of the Chinese working class.$$dBasingstoke : Palgrave Macmillan, [2021]$$z9783030833138$$w(OCoLC)1264400490 001439793 830_0 $$aPalgrave debates in business history. 001439793 852__ $$bebk 001439793 85640 $$3Springer Nature$$uhttps://univsouthin.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https://link.springer.com/10.1007/978-3-030-83313-8$$zOnline Access$$91397441.1 001439793 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:1439793$$pGLOBAL_SET 001439793 980__ $$aBIB 001439793 980__ $$aEBOOK 001439793 982__ $$aEbook 001439793 983__ $$aOnline 001439793 994__ $$a92$$bISE
