In particular, it asks how the novels formal propertiesstylistic, narrative, rhetorical, and figurativecorrelate with the formation of a neuroscientific discourse, and how the former may have assisted, disrupted, and/or intensified the medical articulation of neurological concepts. This study poses the question: how does this rapidly evolving field emerge in the context of nineteenth century cultural practices and what were the conditions for its emergence in the German-speaking world specifically? Where did neuroscience begin and how did it broaden in scope? And most crucially, to what degree does it owe its existence to literature? 001440077 588__ $$aDescription based on print version record. 001440077 650_0 $$aLiterature and science$$zGermany$$xHistory$$y19th century. 001440077 650_0 $$aNeurosciences$$xHistory$$y19th century. 001440077 650_0 $$aGerman fiction$$y19th century$$xHistory and criticism. 001440077 650_6 $$aLittérature et sciences$$zAllemagne$$xHistoire$$y19e siècle. 001440077 650_6 $$aNeurosciences$$xHistoire$$y19e siècle. 001440077 650_6 $$aRoman allemand$$y19e siècle$$xHistoire et critique. 001440077 655_7 $$aCriticism, interpretation, etc.$$2fast$$0(OCoLC)fst01411635 001440077 655_7 $$aHistory.$$2fast$$0(OCoLC)fst01411628 001440077 655_0 $$aElectronic books. 001440077 77608 $$iPrint version:$$z3030828158$$z9783030828158$$w(OCoLC)1258780213 001440077 77608 $$iPrint version:$$aBoos, Sonja, 1972-$$tEmergence of neuroscience and the German novel$$z9783030828158$$w(OCoLC)1264402299 001440077 830_0 $$aPalgrave studies in literature, science, and medicine. 001440077 852__ $$bebk 001440077 85640 $$3Springer Nature$$uhttps://univsouthin.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https://link.springer.com/10.1007/978-3-030-82816-5$$zOnline Access$$91397441.1 001440077 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:1440077$$pGLOBAL_SET 001440077 980__ $$aBIB 001440077 980__ $$aEBOOK 001440077 982__ $$aEbook 001440077 983__ $$aOnline 001440077 994__ $$a92$$bISE
