It argues that the values of hyper-masculinity can be traced from the former into the contemporary environment of the latter: codes of honour, loyalty and bravery have prioritised small groups of males over women and other men, creating a history of hyper-masculinity that shows little sign of stopping. Indeed, Outlaw Bikers and Ancient Warbands: Hyper-Masculinity and Cultural Continuity argues that such hyper-masculine culture can be found in many male groups such as the police, military and sports, and that if we want to understand hyper-masculinity and face it as a society then we need to recognize that outlaw bikers are a reflection of behavior that has a very long tradition. This pioneering work explores these issues from ancient times and into the future. Carl Bradley is a historical criminologist who researches outlaw bikers and patched street gangs. He also studies indigenous response to colonization and warfare. Carl has published on outlaw bikers and on both Māori and Celtic response to Imperialism. He has lectured at Massey University, New Zealand, Australian College of Applied Psychology, Australia, and Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand. 001440347 588__ $$aDescription based on print version record. 001440347 650_0 $$aMotorcycle gangs. 001440347 650_0 $$aSoldiers. 001440347 650_0 $$aCorded Ware culture. 001440347 650_0 $$aMasculinity. 001440347 650_0 $$aCross-cultural studies. 001440347 650_6 $$aMotards (Gangs) 001440347 650_6 $$aCordé. 001440347 650_6 $$aMasculinité. 001440347 650_6 $$aÉtudes transculturelles. 001440347 655_0 $$aElectronic books. 001440347 77608 $$iPrint version:$$z9783030753474 001440347 77608 $$iPrint version:$$z3030753468$$z9783030753467$$w(OCoLC)1245656196 001440347 77608 $$iPrint version:$$aBRADLEY, CARL.$$tOUTLAW BIKERS AND ANCIENT WARBANDS.$$d[S.l.] : PALGRAVE PIVOT, 2021$$z3030753468$$w(OCoLC)1245656196 001440347 852__ $$bebk 001440347 85640 $$3Springer Nature$$uhttps://univsouthin.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https://link.springer.com/10.1007/978-3-030-75347-4$$zOnline Access$$91397441.1 001440347 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:1440347$$pGLOBAL_SET 001440347 980__ $$aBIB 001440347 980__ $$aEBOOK 001440347 982__ $$aEbook 001440347 983__ $$aOnline 001440347 994__ $$a92$$bISE
