The contributions, written by well-established scholars, as well as emerging authors and practitioners, in the field, include conceptual papers, coherent methodological approaches, and case studies from the communities based in the Caribbean Sea and the Indian, Atlantic, and Pacific Oceans. In their introduction, the editors contextualise the book within the current literature. They emphasise the importance of stronger links between climate change science and policy in SIDS, both to increase effectiveness of policy and also boost scholarly enquiry in the context of whose communities are often excluded by mainstream research. This book is timely and appropriate, given the recent commission by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) of a Special Report that aims at addressing vulnerabilities, specially in islands and coastal areas, as well as the adaptation and policy development opportunities following the Paris Agreement. Coupled with this, there is also the need to support the policy community with further scientific evidence on climate change-related issues in SIDS, accompanying the first years of implementation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. 001440461 588__ $$aOnline resource; title from PDF title page (SpringerLink, viewed October 28, 2021). 001440461 650_0 $$aSustainable development$$zDeveloping countries. 001440461 650_0 $$aClimatic changes$$xEconomic aspects$$zDeveloping countries. 001440461 650_0 $$aStates, Small. 001440461 650_6 $$aPetits États. 001440461 655_0 $$aElectronic books. 001440461 7001_ $$aMoncada, Stefano,$$eeditor. 001440461 7001_ $$aBriguglio, Lino,$$eeditor. 001440461 7001_ $$aBambrick, Hilary,$$eeditor. 001440461 7001_ $$aKelman, Ilan,$$eeditor. 001440461 7001_ $$aIorns, Catherine,$$eeditor. 001440461 7001_ $$aNurse, Leonard,$$eeditor. 001440461 77608 $$iPrint version:$$tSmall island developing states.$$dCham, Switzerland : Springer, 2021$$z3030827739$$z9783030827731$$w(OCoLC)1259049740 001440461 830_0 $$aWorld of small states ;$$v9.$$x2627-6003 001440461 852__ $$bebk 001440461 85640 $$3Springer Nature$$uhttps://univsouthin.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https://link.springer.com/10.1007/978-3-030-82774-8$$zOnline Access$$91397441.1 001440461 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:1440461$$pGLOBAL_SET 001440461 980__ $$aBIB 001440461 980__ $$aEBOOK 001440461 982__ $$aEbook 001440461 983__ $$aOnline 001440461 994__ $$a92$$bISE
