It shows how post-communist thresholds emerge where relics from the communist experience continue disrupting the routines and rhythms of a modern life and confront Europeans with cultural experiences, affects and material realities of the enlightened world which they usually seek to repress or ignore. In exploring and writing through art projects which engage with the psychosocial fabric of such post-communist thresholds, this book finds ways of speaking and thinking through these transitory and paradox sites, and asks what we can say about other or new worlds, about new beginnings and endings as well as about decolonial and ethical ways of relating to the other when assessing the status quo of European modernity from within its liminal and crisis-driven sphere. Magda Schmukalla is a Post-Doctoral Fellow in the Department of Psychosocial Studies at Birkbeck College, University of London. Her work advances a decolonial, feminist and artistic study of social life. She has been awarded an ESRC post-doctoral research grant and is co-initiator of the Communist Hauntings project. 001440487 588__ $$aDescription based on print version record. 001440487 650_0 $$aPost-communism$$zEurope$$xHistory. 001440487 650_0 $$aCommunism$$xSocial aspects$$zEurope$$xHistory. 001440487 650_6 $$aPostcommunisme$$zEurope$$xHistoire. 001440487 651_0 $$aEurope$$xPolitics and government$$y1989- 001440487 651_6 $$aEurope$$xPolitique et gouvernement$$y1989- 001440487 655_7 $$aHistory.$$2fast$$0(OCoLC)fst01411628 001440487 655_0 $$aElectronic books. 001440487 77608 $$iPrint version:$$z9783030837303 001440487 77608 $$iPrint version:$$z3030837297$$z9783030837297$$w(OCoLC)1259585889 001440487 77608 $$iPrint version:$$aSchmukalla Magda.$$tCommunist ghosts$$z3030837297$$w(OCoLC)1259585889 001440487 830_0 $$aStudies in the psychosocial. 001440487 852__ $$bebk 001440487 85640 $$3Springer Nature$$uhttps://univsouthin.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https://link.springer.com/10.1007/978-3-030-83730-3$$zOnline Access$$91397441.1 001440487 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:1440487$$pGLOBAL_SET 001440487 980__ $$aBIB 001440487 980__ $$aEBOOK 001440487 982__ $$aEbook 001440487 983__ $$aOnline 001440487 994__ $$a92$$bISE
