With few exceptions, the novels studied here are lesser-known works, with little written about them to date. Mining these tremendous resources for the details of Irish American life, this book looks back to the beginning of the twentieth century, when the authors' immigrant grandparents were central to their communities. It also points forward to the twenty-first century, as the concerns these authors had for the future of Irish America have become a legacy we must grapple with in the present. Beth OLeary Anish is a Professor of English at the Community College of Rhode Island, USA. She successfully defended her dissertation, Writing Irish America: Communal Memory and the Narrative of Nation in Diaspora, at the University of Rhode Island. She has been published in the New Hibernia Review, and is an active member of the American Conference for Irish Studies. Her research interests are in American immigrant literature, contemporary Irish literature, and Irish American fiction and memoir. 001440820 588__ $$aDescription based on print version record. 001440820 650_0 $$aAmerican fiction$$xIrish American authors$$xHistory and criticism. 001440820 650_0 $$aAmerican fiction$$xHistory and criticism$$y20th century. 001440820 650_6 $$aRoman américain$$xHistoire et critique$$y20e siècle. 001440820 655_7 $$aCriticism, interpretation, etc.$$2fast$$0(OCoLC)fst01411635 001440820 655_0 $$aElectronic books. 001440820 77608 $$iPrint version:$$z3030831930$$z9783030831936$$w(OCoLC)1258782048 001440820 77608 $$iPrint version:$$aAnish, Beth O'Leary.$$tIrish American fiction from World War II to JFK$$z9783030831936$$w(OCoLC)1272898576 001440820 830_0 $$aNew directions in Irish and Irish American literature. 001440820 852__ $$bebk 001440820 85640 $$3Springer Nature$$uhttps://univsouthin.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https://link.springer.com/10.1007/978-3-030-83194-3$$zOnline Access$$91397441.1 001440820 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:1440820$$pGLOBAL_SET 001440820 980__ $$aBIB 001440820 980__ $$aEBOOK 001440820 982__ $$aEbook 001440820 983__ $$aOnline 001440820 994__ $$a92$$bISE
