The demand for doulas in China is increasing, and the rise in the use of doulas is thought to be due to increasing dissatisfaction with current institutional maternity health care. Attention is focused on Chinese women's relationships with their bodies and on women's experiences of choice, agency, and access to health and reproductive services as well as maternal health care information and support. Chapters present an overview of the current experience of pre- and post- natal care in China. In addition, chapters explore interview data on how Chinese doulas construct multiple identities, in terms of serving as lactation consultants, child care providers, and child care educators for women during pregnancy and childbirth. Maternal Healthcare and Doulas in China will be of interest to researchers in public health and health policy, particularly with an interest in maternal health or Asian studies, as well as, health practitioners, and clinicians who are interested in issues related to women, maternity, health care, childbirth, and feminist research in China. 001441696 588__ $$aOnline resource; title from PDF title page (SpringerLink, viewed January 31, 2022). 001441696 650_0 $$aDoulas$$zChina. 001441696 650_0 $$aMaternal health services$$zChina. 001441696 650_0 $$aObstetrics$$zChina. 001441696 650_6 $$aAccompagnantes (Obstétrique)$$zChine. 001441696 650_6 $$aObstétrique$$zChine. 001441696 655_7 $$aLlibres electrònics.$$2thub 001441696 655_0 $$aElectronic books. 001441696 77608 $$iPrint version: $$z303046962X$$z9783030469627$$w(OCoLC)1148899062 001441696 852__ $$bebk 001441696 85640 $$3Springer Nature$$uhttps://univsouthin.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https://link.springer.com/10.1007/978-3-030-46963-4$$zOnline Access$$91397441.1 001441696 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:1441696$$pGLOBAL_SET 001441696 980__ $$aBIB 001441696 980__ $$aEBOOK 001441696 982__ $$aEbook 001441696 983__ $$aOnline 001441696 994__ $$a92$$bISE
