The volume pays homage to the late Olivia Remie Constables scholarship and presents innovative, thought-provoking, interdisciplinary investigations of cross-cultural exchange, ranging widely across time and geography. Divided into two parts, "Perceptions of the Other" and Interfaith relations, this volume features scholars engaging with church art, literature, historiography, scientific treatises, and polemics, in order to study how the religious Other was depicted to serve different purposes and audiences. There are also microhistories that examine the experiences of individual families, classes, and communities as they interacted with one another in their own specific contexts. Several of these studies draw their source material from church and state archives as well as jurisprudential texts, and span the centuries from the late medieval to early modern periods. 001441720 588__ $$aDescription based on print version record. 001441720 650_0 $$aReligion and sociology$$zIberian Peninsula$$xHistory$$yTo 1500. 001441720 650_0 $$aReligion and sociology$$zMediterranean Region$$xHistory$$yTo 1500. 001441720 650_0 $$aCommunities$$xReligious aspects. 001441720 650_0 $$aInterfaith families$$zIberian Peninsula$$xHistory$$yTo 1500. 001441720 650_0 $$aInterfaith families$$zMediterranean Region$$xHistory$$yTo 1500. 001441720 650_6 $$aCommunauté$$xAspect religieux. 001441720 651_0 $$aIberian Peninsula$$xReligion. 001441720 651_0 $$aMediterranean Region$$xReligion. 001441720 651_6 $$aIbérique, Péninsule$$xReligion. 001441720 655_7 $$aHistory.$$2fast$$0(OCoLC)fst01411628 001441720 655_0 $$aElectronic books. 001441720 7001_ $$aDavis-Secord, Sarah C.,$$eeditor. 001441720 7001_ $$aVicéns, Belén,$$eeditor. 001441720 7001_ $$aVose, Robin J.
