The emergence of experimental philosophy has given rise to a new context in which philosophers have begun to search for a more thorough definition of philosophical competence. On the other hand, a new paradigm known as embodied cognition has been proposed in the philosophy of mind. It views subjects capable of cognition and experience as living, embodied creatures coupled with their environments. The time is ripe for these two trends to join their efforts. Therefore, the book discusses what it means for a human being thought of as an living subject to pursue philosophy. In this context, in contrast to the existing literature, philosophical competence must not be conflated with competence in philosophy. The former is a skill or attitude. The book refers to this peculiar attitude as the recognition of ones epistemic position. 001442606 588__ $$aDescription based on print version record. 001442606 650_0 $$aPhilosophy of mind. 001442606 650_0 $$aCognition. 001442606 650_6 $$aPhilosophie de l'esprit. 001442606 650_6 $$aCognition. 001442606 655_0 $$aElectronic books. 001442606 77608 $$iPrint version:$$aWerner, Konrad.$$tEmbodied philosopher.$$dBasingstoke : Palgrave Macmillan, 2021$$z9783030799632$$w(OCoLC)1272898235 001442606 830_0 $$aNew directions in philosophy and cognitive science. 001442606 852__ $$bebk 001442606 85640 $$3Springer Nature$$uhttps://univsouthin.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https://link.springer.com/10.1007/978-3-030-79964-9$$zOnline Access$$91397441.1 001442606 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:1442606$$pGLOBAL_SET 001442606 980__ $$aBIB 001442606 980__ $$aEBOOK 001442606 982__ $$aEbook 001442606 983__ $$aOnline 001442606 994__ $$a92$$bISE
