Gender nonbinary peoplewho identify as other genders besides simply man or woman have begun to disrupt this binary system, but the limited progress they have made has required significant everyday labor. Through interviews with 47 nonbinary people, this book offers rich description of these forms of labor, including rethinking sex and gender, resignifying gender, redoing relationships, and resisting erasure. The final chapter interrogates the lasting impact of this labor through follow-up interviews with participants four years later. Although nonbinary people are finally managing to achieve some recognition, it is clear that this change has not happened without a fight that continues to this day. The diverse experiences of nonbinary people in this book will help cisgender people relate to gender minorities with more compassion, and may also appeal to those questioning their own gender. This text will also be of keen interest to academics across Sociology and Gender Studies. 001443716 588__ $$aDescription based on online resource; title from pdf title page (EBSCO, viewed on February 23, 2022). 001443716 650_0 $$aGender identity$$xSocial aspects. 001443716 650_0 $$aSocial change. 001443716 650_0 $$aGender nonconformity. 001443716 650_6 $$aIdentité sexuelle$$xAspect social. 001443716 650_6 $$aTransgenrisme. 001443716 655_0 $$aElectronic books. 001443716 77608 $$iPrint version:$$aDarwin, Helana$$tRedoing Gender$$dCham : Springer International Publishing AG,c2022$$z9783030836160 001443716 852__ $$bebk 001443716 85640 $$3Springer Nature$$uhttps://univsouthin.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https://link.springer.com/10.1007/978-3-030-83617-7$$zOnline Access$$91397441.1 001443716 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:1443716$$pGLOBAL_SET 001443716 980__ $$aBIB 001443716 980__ $$aEBOOK 001443716 982__ $$aEbook 001443716 983__ $$aOnline 001443716 994__ $$a92$$bISE
