Placing the pandemics along with other globally shared resources, such as global warming, AI singularity, and high-risk physics experiments, each of the nine chapters of the book discusses the global health crises from a variety of unique standpoints, including infectious diseases, economics, governance, and public health. Based on the historical records of past pandemics and the rich data from the COVID-19 pandemic, a conceptual framework is presented for the economics of pandemics as a globally shared experience. This book aims to critically examine salient features in the global responses to the COVID-19 pandemic, including global governance, lockdowns, radical movements, and mRNA vaccines. The book will be a valuable resource to students, researchers, and policymakers who are working in the fields of environmental economics, global-scale public goods, and health economics. S. Niggol Seo is a natural resource economist who specializes in the study of global warming and globally shared goods, currently at the Muaebak Institute of Global Warming Studies. He received a Ph.D. degree from Yale University in 2006 with a dissertation on microbehavioural economics of climate change. He has worked on various projects with the World Bank on climate change in Africa, Latin America, and Asia and held Professor positions in the UK, Spain, and Australia from 2006 to 2015. 001444691 588__ $$aDescription based on print version record. 001444691 647_7 $$aCOVID-19 Pandemic$$d(2020-)$$2fast$$0(OCoLC)fst02024716 001444691 650_0 $$aEpidemics$$xEnvironmental aspects. 001444691 650_0 $$aEnvironmental economics. 001444691 650_0 $$aMedical economics. 001444691 650_0 $$aCOVID-19 Pandemic, 2020-$$xEconomic aspects. 001444691 650_6 $$aÉconomie de l'environnement. 001444691 650_6 $$aÉconomie de la santé. 001444691 650_6 $$aPandémie de COVID-19, 2020-$$xAspect économique. 001444691 655_0 $$aElectronic books. 001444691 77608 $$iPrint version:$$aSeo, Sungno Niggol.$$tEconomics of pandemics.$$dBasingstoke : Palgrave Macmillan, 2022$$z9783030910204$$w(OCoLC)1295099941 001444691 852__ $$bebk 001444691 85640 $$3Springer Nature$$uhttps://univsouthin.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https://link.springer.com/10.1007/978-3-030-91021-1$$zOnline Access$$91397441.1 001444691 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:1444691$$pGLOBAL_SET 001444691 980__ $$aBIB 001444691 980__ $$aEBOOK 001444691 982__ $$aEbook 001444691 983__ $$aOnline 001444691 994__ $$a92$$bISE
