Through new conceptualizations of care practices, chapters take the reader directly into the homes, workplaces, and everyday life of urban and rural residents throughout Europe. The book argues that common neoliberal responses to care crises are not about revaluing care but rather a normalization of precarious work as expressed in moving care from public institutions to families within private homes. Featuring contributions from eight countries, chapters contribute to research on gender, care, migration, and welfare policies by discussing how recent developments in global capitalism and neoliberal policies influence welfare policies and care arrangements in post-egalitarian and post-socialist societies in Europe. Lena Nare is Associate Professor of Sociology at the University of Helsinki, Finland. Her research focuses on care work, migration, transnationalism, aging, and asylum. She is Editor-in-Chief of Nordic Journal of Migration Research and Associate Editor of Global Social Challenges Journal. Lise Widding Isaksen is Professor in the Department of Sociology at the University of Bergen, Norway. Her research interests include gender, care, social stratification, migration, and welfare/state politics. She teaches sociology of the family, migration, and the welfare state. 001444969 588__ $$aDescription based on print version record. 001444969 650_0 $$aPublic welfare$$zEurope. 001444969 655_0 $$aElectronic books. 001444969 7001_ $$aNäre, Lena,$$eeditor. 001444969 7001_ $$aWidding Isaksen, Lise,$$eeditor. 001444969 77608 $$iPrint version:$$tCare loops and mobilities in Nordic, Central, and Eastern European welfare states.$$dBasingstoke : Palgrave Macmillan, 2022$$z9783030928889$$w(OCoLC)1295100773 001444969 830_0 $$aPalgrave Macmillan studies in family and intimate life. 001444969 852__ $$bebk 001444969 85640 $$3Springer Nature$$uhttps://univsouthin.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https://link.springer.com/10.1007/978-3-030-92889-6$$zOnline Access$$91397441.1 001444969 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:1444969$$pGLOBAL_SET 001444969 980__ $$aBIB 001444969 980__ $$aEBOOK 001444969 982__ $$aEbook 001444969 983__ $$aOnline 001444969 994__ $$a92$$bISE
