Particularly, it examines the applicability of liberal conservatism to the era of the last Shah of Iran. The thesis defines the term political conservatism in accord with Edmund Burke's philosophy. It deals next with the definition of religious reformation, the peculiar characteristics of Islam, the Shi'ite political theology, and the contradictory usages of Islamic reformation in the literature. The text gives an overview of the two antagonist sides of nationalism. It provides also an analysis of the Islamic Republic as a new political phenomenon in Iranian history and the transformation of all concepts after 1979. Ayatollahi aims to assess the Iranian conservatism, the possibility of conciliation between politics and religion before the collapse of the Pahlavi, and the conditions of possibility for any restoration of the monarchy. About the author Amir Yahya Ayatollahi received his Ph. D. from the University of Vechta, Germany. His fields of interest are political philosophy, modern Middle East, Iranian studies, and Shi'ism. 001445476 588__ $$aOnline resource; title from PDF title page (SpringerLink, viewed March 28, 2022). 001445476 651_0 $$aIran$$xPolitics and government$$y1905-1911. 001445476 651_0 $$aIran$$xPolitics and government$$y1911-1925. 001445476 651_0 $$aIran$$xPolitics and government$$y1925-1979. 001445476 651_0 $$aIran$$xHistory$$yQajar dynasty, 1794-1925. 001445476 651_0 $$aIran$$xHistory$$yMohammad Reza Pahlavi, 1941-1979. 001445476 651_6 $$aIran$$xPolitique et gouvernement$$y1905-1911. 001445476 651_6 $$aIran$$xPolitique et gouvernement$$y1911-1925. 001445476 651_6 $$aIran$$xHistoire$$y1794-1925 (Dynastie des Qādjārs) 001445476 651_6 $$aIran$$xHistoire$$y1941-1979 (Mohammed Reza Pahlavi) 001445476 655_7 $$aHistory.$$2fast$$0(OCoLC)fst01411628 001445476 655_0 $$aElectronic books. 001445476 77608 $$iPrint version:$$aAyatollahi, Amir Yahya.$$tPolitical Conservatism and Religious Reformation in Iran (1905-1979).$$dWiesbaden : Springer Fachmedien Wiesbaden GmbH, ©2022$$z9783658366698 001445476 830_0 $$a(Re- )konstruktionen - Internationale und globale Studien. 001445476 852__ $$bebk 001445476 85640 $$3Springer Nature$$uhttps://univsouthin.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https://link.springer.com/10.1007/978-3-658-36670-4$$zOnline Access$$91397441.1 001445476 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:1445476$$pGLOBAL_SET 001445476 980__ $$aBIB 001445476 980__ $$aEBOOK 001445476 982__ $$aEbook 001445476 983__ $$aOnline 001445476 994__ $$a92$$bISE
