It addresses the physics and astrophysics of the spectacular supernova explosions, starting with the collapse of massive stars and ending with the birth of neutron stars or black holes. Recent progress in the understanding of core collapse supernova (CCSN) and observational aspects of future detections of neutrinos from CCSN explosions are discussed. The other main focus in this text is the novel phases of dense nuclear matter, its compositions and equation of state (EoS) from low to very high baryon density relevant to supernovae and neutron stars. The multi-messenger astrophysics of binary neutron star merger GW170817 and its relation to EoS through tidal deformability are also presented in detail. The synthesis of elements heavier than iron in the supernova and neutron star environment by the rapid (r)-process are treated here with special emphasis on the nucleosynthesis in the ejected material from GW170817. This monograph is written for graduate students and researchers in the field of nuclear astrophysics. 001445670 588__ $$aOnline resource; title from PDF title page (SpringerLink, viewed April 5, 2022). 001445670 650_0 $$aSupernovae. 001445670 650_0 $$aNeutron stars. 001445670 650_0 $$aAstrophysics. 001445670 650_6 $$aSupernovae. 001445670 650_6 $$aÉtoiles à neutrons. 001445670 650_6 $$aAstrophysique. 001445670 655_0 $$aElectronic books. 001445670 7001_ $$aKar, Kamales,$$eauthor.$$0(orcid)0000-0002-3313-2072$$1https://orcid.org/0000-0002-3313-2072 001445670 77608 $$iPrint version:$$z3030951707$$z9783030951702$$w(OCoLC)1289366368 001445670 830_0 $$aAstronomy and astrophysics library,$$x2196-9698 001445670 852__ $$bebk 001445670 85640 $$3Springer Nature$$uhttps://univsouthin.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https://link.springer.com/10.1007/978-3-030-95171-9$$zOnline Access$$91397441.1 001445670 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:1445670$$pGLOBAL_SET 001445670 980__ $$aBIB 001445670 980__ $$aEBOOK 001445670 982__ $$aEbook 001445670 983__ $$aOnline 001445670 994__ $$a92$$bISE
