Welch believes that dance can be used to ask questions, and this book offers a method of how critical inquiry can be embodied. First, she presents the theoretical underpinnings of what this process is and how it can work; second, she introduces the empirical method as a tool that can be used by movers for the purpose of doing embodied inquiry. Exploring the role of embodied cognition and embodied metaphors in mining the body for questions, Welch demonstrates how to utilize movement to explore embodied practices of knowing. She argues that our creative embodied movements facilitate our ability to bodily engage in critical analysis about the world. Shay Welch is Associate Professor of Philosophy at Spelman College, the 20202021 Carnegie and Rockefeller Foundation Distinguished Research/Creative Scholar, and Chair of the Association for Feminist Ethics and Social Theory. 001445679 588__ $$aDescription based on online resource; title from digital title page (viewed on April 12, 2022). 001445679 650_0 $$aChoreography$$xPhilosophy. 001445679 650_0 $$aDance$$xPhilosophy. 001445679 650_0 $$aChoreography$$xPsychological aspects. 001445679 650_0 $$aDance$$xPsychological aspects. 001445679 650_6 $$aChorégraphie$$xPhilosophie. 001445679 650_6 $$aDanse$$xPhilosophie. 001445679 650_6 $$aChorégraphie$$xAspect psychologique. 001445679 650_6 $$aDanse$$xAspect psychologique. 001445679 655_0 $$aElectronic books. 001445679 77608 $$iPrint version:$$aWelch, Shay.$$tChoreography as embodied critical inquiry.$$dBasingstoke : Palgrave Macmillan, 2022$$z9783030934941$$w(OCoLC)1295145126 001445679 852__ $$bebk 001445679 85640 $$3Springer Nature$$uhttps://univsouthin.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https://link.springer.com/10.1007/978-3-030-93495-8$$zOnline Access$$91397441.1 001445679 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:1445679$$pGLOBAL_SET 001445679 980__ $$aBIB 001445679 980__ $$aEBOOK 001445679 982__ $$aEbook 001445679 983__ $$aOnline 001445679 994__ $$a92$$bISE
