In a country which stretches from the core of the European Alps to the Hungarian plain there is huge variety of landforms and landscapes. This book reveals that variety. Part 1 sets the context of the Austrian landscape as a whole. Part 2 is the core of the volume and comprises a careful selection of the most outstanding landscapes in Austria. Each of the chapters results from detailed research conducted by an author over many years. Austrias landscapes are especially attractive because of the great variety of topographic slopes, geologic foundations and the special landscape legacy from the Quaternary period. Glacial and Karst landscapes dominate, but there are superb examples of granite weathering landscapes and geologically recent volcanism. Part 3 is the editors original and creative contribution. It emphasizes the importance of geomorphology as a natural resource. Tourism relies upon geomorphology and many national, aesthetic and cultural values are influenced by that geomorphology. The book is lavishly illustrated with about 300 color images and is securely based on scientific scholarship. 001446952 588__ $$aDescription based on print version record. 001446952 650_0 $$aGeomorphology$$zAustria. 001446952 650_0 $$aLandforms$$zAustria. 001446952 650_6 $$aGéomorphologie$$0(CaQQLa)201-0004528$$zAutriche.$$0(CaQQLa)201-0392620 001446952 650_6 $$aRelief (Géographie)$$0(CaQQLa)201-0006732$$zAutriche.$$0(CaQQLa)201-0392620 001446952 655_0 $$aElectronic books. 001446952 7001_ $$aEmbleton-Hamann, Christine.$$eeditor. 001446952 77608 $$iPrint version:$$tLANDSCAPES AND LANDFORMS OF AUSTRIA.$$d[Place of publication not identified] : SPRINGER, 2022$$z3030928136$$w(OCoLC)1285164291 001446952 830_0 $$aWorld geomorphological landscapes. 001446952 852__ $$bebk 001446952 85640 $$3Springer Nature$$uhttps://univsouthin.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https://link.springer.com/10.1007/978-3-030-92815-5$$zOnline Access$$91397441.1 001446952 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:1446952$$pGLOBAL_SET 001446952 980__ $$aBIB 001446952 980__ $$aEBOOK 001446952 982__ $$aEbook 001446952 983__ $$aOnline 001446952 994__ $$a92$$bISE
