The volume argues that the rise of scattered communities, displaced physically and psychologically by urban and alienated geographies, necessitates linguistic negotiations of ones locatedness in place as the chief means of uncovering and re-building identity. By looking at narrative re-imaginings of forgotten and interrupted intimacies between habitation and place from diverse parts of the world, the twelve chapters address the growing need to expand and alter approaches to literary representations of modernity and modes of self-location. Rupsa Banerjee is Assistant Professor of English at St. Xavier's University, Kolkata, India. Nathaniel Cadle is Associate Professor of English at Florida International University, USA. His first book, The Mediating Nation: Late American Realism, Globalization, and the Progressive State (2014), won the 2015 SAMLA Studies Book Award. . 001447122 588__ $$aDescription based upon online resource; title from PDF title page (viewed June 6, 2022). 001447122 650_0 $$aSociolinguistics. 001447122 650_0 $$aPlace (Philosophy) 001447122 650_0 $$aLanguages in contact. 001447122 655_0 $$aElectronic books. 001447122 7001_ $$aCadle, Nathaniel,$$eeditor. 001447122 7001_ $$aBanerjee, Rupsa,$$eeditor. 001447122 77608 $$iPrint version:$$z3030964930$$z9783030964931$$w(OCoLC)1292588712 001447122 830_0 $$aGeocriticism and spatial literary studies. 001447122 852__ $$bebk 001447122 85640 $$3Springer Nature$$uhttps://univsouthin.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https://link.springer.com/10.1007/978-3-030-96494-8$$zOnline Access$$91397441.1 001447122 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:1447122$$pGLOBAL_SET 001447122 980__ $$aBIB 001447122 980__ $$aEBOOK 001447122 982__ $$aEbook 001447122 983__ $$aOnline 001447122 994__ $$a92$$bISE
