Using the legal doctrinal method, the book discusses the precautionary principle and the public involvement principle, as well as several legal measures at the international law level and in Chinese law. It observes that legal principles and measures as provided for in Chinas GMO legal framework have generally implemented the international obligations regarding the prevention of environmental risks that may be caused by the cultivation of GM crops and related activities. However, the book argues that Chinese law lacks an explicit codification of the precautionary principle, and the same is true with regard to public participation; the regulatory framework lacks specific obligations. It concludes that future research should focus on the application and enforcement of the relevant Chinese legislation, and that it is also important to investigate how the environmental risks that may be caused by new techniques, such as genome-editing techniques, could be prevented, given the experience gained by regulating the cultivation of GM crops and related activities. 001447236 588__ $$aOnline resource; title from PDF title page (SpringerLink, viewed June 10, 2022). 001447236 650_0 $$aTransgenic plants$$xLaw and legislation. 001447236 655_0 $$aElectronic books. 001447236 77608 $$iPrint version:$$aLiu, Ancui.$$tRegulating Genetically Modified Crops in View of Environmental Risks.$$dSingapore : Springer, ©2022$$z9789811924798 001447236 852__ $$bebk 001447236 85640 $$3Springer Nature$$uhttps://univsouthin.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https://link.springer.com/10.1007/978-981-19-2480-4$$zOnline Access$$91397441.1 001447236 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:1447236$$pGLOBAL_SET 001447236 980__ $$aBIB 001447236 980__ $$aEBOOK 001447236 982__ $$aEbook 001447236 983__ $$aOnline 001447236 994__ $$a92$$bISE
