These nuclear reactors are a number of visionary concepts for which special criteria have been set by the Generation IV International Forum with regard to safety, sustainability and economic efficiency. The book therefore describes, among other things, innovative water- and liquid-metal-cooled reactors, high-temperature and molten-salt reactors, and discusses their significance for the economy and society. The author imparts relevant basic knowledge of nuclear technology and then uses some illustrative examples to show what future opportunities this fourth generation of nuclear reactors will offer, but also what challenges will be associated with it. About the author Prof. Dr. -Ing. Thomas Schulenberg studied physics and mechanical engineering and received his doctorate in the field of sodium-cooled reactors. During his fourteen-year industrial career, he developed gas turbines for conventional power plants. Since 2000, Prof. Schulenberg was the head of the Institute for Nuclear and Energy Technology at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, where he lectured on conventional power plant technology as well as nuclear power plant technology. As a member of the steering committee for fourth-generation water-cooled reactors, he was actively involved in the Generation IV International Forum for many years. This book is a translation of an original German edition. The translation was done with the help of artificial intelligence (machine translation by the service DeepL.com). A subsequent human revision was done primarily in terms of content, so that the book will read stylistically differently from a conventional translation. 001447457 588__ $$aDescription based on print version record. 001447457 650_0 $$aPhysics. 001447457 650_0 $$aAstronomy. 001447457 650_0 $$aNuclear reactors. 001447457 655_0 $$aElectronic books. 001447457 77608 $$iPrint version:$$aSCHULENBERG, THOMAS.$$tFOURTH GENERATION OF NUCLEAR REACTORS.$$d[Place of publication not identified] : SPRINGER-VERLAG BERLIN AN, 2022$$z3662649187$$w(OCoLC)1291170444 001447457 852__ $$bebk 001447457 85640 $$3Springer Nature$$uhttps://univsouthin.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https://link.springer.com/10.1007/978-3-662-64919-0$$zOnline Access$$91397441.1 001447457 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:1447457$$pGLOBAL_SET 001447457 980__ $$aBIB 001447457 980__ $$aEBOOK 001447457 982__ $$aEbook 001447457 983__ $$aOnline 001447457 994__ $$a92$$bISE
