It juxtaposes two perspectives that have been underrepresented in Hemingway studies so far: translation and interview. The book is divided into three sections which mirror the key words in the title: interview and translation. Section One explores the "last" interviews with Hemingway in their historical context of the Cold War. Section Two focuses on the achievement of Bronisław Zieliński, Hemingway's Polish translator and friend, who is hardly known outside Poland. The section gives a detailed account of their correspondence in the years 1958-1961. Section Three is an account of experiments in translating Hemingway's famous story "Cat in the Rain" by groups of Polish university students. Its aim is to illustrate the extent to which literary translation may influence the construction of the text's meaning. . 001448353 588__ $$aOnline resource; title from PDF title page (SpringerLink, viewed August 1, 2022). 001448353 60010 $$aHemingway, Ernest,$$d1899-1961$$xInterviews. 001448353 60010 $$aHemingway, Ernest,$$d1899-1961$$xTranslations. 001448353 60010 $$aHemingway, Ernest,$$d1899-1961$$xTranslations into Polish. 001448353 60010 $$aZieliński, Bronisław,$$d1914-1985. 001448353 655_0 $$aElectronic books. 001448353 655_7 $$aInterviews.$$2fast$$0(OCoLC)fst01423832 001448353 655_7 $$aTranslations.$$2fast$$0(OCoLC)fst01423791 001448353 7001_ $$aGuttfeld, Dorota,$$eauthor. 001448353 77608 $$iPrint version: $$z3031072294$$z9783031072291$$w(OCoLC)1313386796 001448353 830_0 $$aSecond language learning and teaching.$$pIssues in literature and culture.$$x2365-9688 001448353 852__ $$bebk 001448353 85640 $$3Springer Nature$$uhttps://univsouthin.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https://link.springer.com/10.1007/978-3-031-07230-7$$zOnline Access$$91397441.1 001448353 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:1448353$$pGLOBAL_SET 001448353 980__ $$aBIB 001448353 980__ $$aEBOOK 001448353 982__ $$aEbook 001448353 983__ $$aOnline 001448353 994__ $$a92$$bISE
