Set against the backdrop of the current scenario of deindustrialisation in the European Alps, the book describes how to read and interpret the spatial condition of industrial brownfields in peripheral mountain areas as complex transformation sites. Through key theoretical references, well-documented experiences and field activities, the book explores and advances an innovative methodology of design-based participatory planning conceived specifically for fragile socioeconomic and environmental contexts. The empirical basis for such a methodological exploration is provided by four pilot sites distributed between Austria, Italy, France and Slovenia, identified in the cooperation project as highly representative and recurring situations. The book includes a comparative review of the work carried out for the pilot sites, as well as the planning outcomes generated, providing a clear and operative reference for scholars, professionals and public officers called to face similar experiences. 001448895 588__ $$aDescription based on print version record. 001448895 650_0 $$aBrownfields$$zEurope. 001448895 655_0 $$aElectronic books. 001448895 7001_ $$aSolero, Elena,$$eauthor. 001448895 77608 $$iPrint version:$$aModica, Marcello.$$tBrownfield transformation in fragile territories.$$dCham : Springer, 2022$$z9783031090820$$w(OCoLC)1338681303 001448895 830_0 $$aSpringerBriefs in applied sciences and technology.$$pPoliMI SpringerBriefs. 001448895 830_0 $$aSpringerBriefs in applied sciences and technology. 001448895 852__ $$bebk 001448895 85640 $$3Springer Nature$$uhttps://univsouthin.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https://link.springer.com/10.1007/978-3-031-09083-7$$zOnline Access$$91397441.1 001448895 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:1448895$$pGLOBAL_SET 001448895 980__ $$aBIB 001448895 980__ $$aEBOOK 001448895 982__ $$aEbook 001448895 983__ $$aOnline 001448895 994__ $$a92$$bISE
